About Tarheel Golf Foundation

Tarheel Golf Foundation Mission

The Tarheel Golf Foundation was founded in 2008. Our mission is to have an impact on the lives of young people through the game of golf. We provide young players the opportunity to compete in a competitive environment, and one that promotes integrity, honesty, and respect to their fellow competitors.

Tarheel Golf Foundation Purpose

The Tarheel Golf Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to promote junior golf in North Carolina.
The Tarheel Jr Golf Tour provides competitive tournament opportunities that prepare high school players for collegiate golf, and middle school players for high school golf.  All 36-hole events are nationally ranked. Tournaments are held on weekends on some of North Carolina’s finest golf courses. The Tarheel Junior Tour has a reputation of providing the most competitive junior golf tour in North Carolina. Tarheel Junior Tour members include top ranked players from the “Tar Heel State” and many top players from about 20 states. Players compete for individual tournament championships as well as for the season long Money and Scoring Leader competitions.

The Money Leader competition is modeled after the PGA Tour Money List, all tournaments are assigned a purse ranging from 5-10 million dollars in value, players earn “dollars” based on PGA Tour purse distribution formulas and the leading “money winner” receives a special award at the end of the season. The Scoring Leader is modeled after the PGA Tour’s Vardon Trophy, which recognizes the player with the lowest scoring average in tournament competition.
