The Tarheel Junior Golf Tour provides members with a variety of “member-only” benefits including:
- Nationally Ranked Events and Recognition
All Tarheel Jr. Tour 36-hole events are reported for inclusion in the National Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings system. The Junior Golf Scoreboard is the most comprehensive national ranking system and is a favorite among college coaches. Results are also submitted to Golfweek, Golfworld, Triangle Golf Today.
- Low Total Cost of Participation and No Overnight Travel
Most of our events are held within a short drive of our players’ communities so overnight hotel stays are not required. This reduces our players’ participation costs, allows families to spend more time together at home and minimizes the impact of travel on educational obligations during the school year.
- High Quality Competition
Central North Carolina is home to the top junior golfers in the state and many of the country’s highly ranked players. The Tarheel Jr. Golf Tour was established to provide these elite junior golfers regular tournament opportunities to compete against each without traveling long distances to do so. Our players have successfully competed in national and international junior championships. The tour provides players with differing levels of experience to see how they stack up against some of the nation’s best junior golfers and to gain experience that may allow them to excel at higher levels.
- Season Long Points and Scoring Races
Participants in the Tarheel Junior Tour compete to win at each individual event and to earn points based on their finishes toward end of season honors. The players earning the most points based in individual tournament finished in each division will be recognized as the Series Champion. Additionally, the player in the 15-18 years old division with the lowest scoring average, that meets the minimum number of completed rounds, will earn a special award for that accomplishment.
- Elite Player Division
North Carolina is home to many of the nation‘s most outstanding junior golfers. We also have some of the nation‘s best golf courses. Elite players need the opportunity to compete with, and against, each other on some of our great local golf courses in nationally ranked events. During the school year, players need a place to play that does not require excessive overnight travel, high costs and time away from academic or family obligations. Our Elite Junior Division provides these players the opportunity to stay sharp and further develop their skills without negatively impacting their academic progress or family lives.
- Tarheel Future Star Series for Young Player Development
The Tarheel Future Stars Series consists of several one day events for young golfers ages 8-13. Players learn to compete and gain tournament experience on golf courses set to age appropriate yardages. These are fun and enjoyable events for boys and girls where they can score well, gain confidence and interact with other young players.
